You know that infamous moment with the inflatable arch coming down on the road on top of Adam Yates?

Well today at the & , just (and no more) past the finish line an ambulance got wedged under the camera device (not sure precisely what it is) platform above the road!

Fortunately nobody was finishing, it was between groups of finishers & they got lucky there was time to clear it.

I only got a photo as there was a plane passing at the moment of impact.

Since I went to the local Community meeting for the Gran and Medio Fondo events and spoke to the race organisers I’d heard the route had been changed a couple of times following feedback.

I literally only just found out they’ve also now changed the finish line…to basically down the road from me!

It will start in Perth but finish in grounds of Scone Palace.

I’ve decided I’ll go into Perth to watch the Start and Finish. Riders will be extremely spread out over the Fondo routes elsewhere and, since the road section of the events that passes closest to where I live is downhill, those riders will be passing in blink of an eye.

I remember a cycling race went through when I was a kid, the whole school lined the main road, all for a split second.

There’ll be no peloton this time.

I’ve just returned from the Community Engagement Drop-in for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships Gran Fondo & Medio Fondo that will be on the 4th August.

I’m pretty sure I was the 1st person there & I had a good LONG chat with the 2 running it. They were very informative, & we talked about all sorts of stuff. Road closures, information distribution, media coverage, local government involvement, a bit of everything. 👍 🚵

So, tomorrow’s schedule features something a little different.

I’m going to the Community Engagement Drop-in session in the village for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships Gran Fondo and Medio Fondo events which will be passing where I live.

I haven’t decided how I’m going to see the events, so hopefully I’ll get sufficient information to make an informed decision so I can get the most enjoyment.
