Metrolinx renaming Eglinton Crosstown LRT’s Ontario Science Centre station
Last year, the province abruptly announced it would close the Ontario Science Centre citing structural issues, ending its operations the same day and starting to empty the hub.

In the Star, @GraphicMatt on risks to Eglinton Crosstown success:
“Together, these two failures — poor route management and bad or non-existent transit priority — could easily spell disaster for the Eglinton LRT once it starts service. I hope I’m wrong. Especially because better management and signal priority on the surface section of the Eglinton line would likely translate to better management of other surface routes.”
Yikes. @shawnmicallef.bsky.social shares rumour the TTC’s terrible ex-CEO Rick Leary could be the new CEO of Metrolinx.
He’ll do whatever Queen’s Park tells him to do, including starve the agency. So much for expanded regional transit and on-time performance?

“After 13 years, sources close to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project say the long-awaited line is finally expected to welcome transit riders in September.” - Toronto Star
Why the hell was a bridge built at Exhibition Go that's only usable outside of the winter? Is this a temporary structure, until the tunnel could be completed??
I don’t really trust #metrolinx seeing how they did the stations on the Eglinton lane. Tons of valuable real estate wasted by small stations that are taking the whole block. No condo or business on top, nothing, at places where the amount of pedestrians will be super high.
I walked east of Pape on #Dandorth last weekend and it looked like a war zone with everything that was destroyed.
Apparently they are not done and need to destroy the west part.
Do they really need that much to expand a station that already exists?

Yesterday I met with Metrolinx's community relations team. They assured me that the construction crews were much better at respecting the 7 AM start time agreement.
This morning, the cranes were already going at 6:45.
One of them described a "short term pain for long term gain" strategy, which I had to tell them really hurt since our neighbourhood has been disturbed by Metrolinx construction since 2011

Met with Metrolinx Scarbrough Subway Extension people to talk over some of my noise concerns. They were as noncommittal as you'd expect. They gave me this local construction notice which isn't on the website because no French translator

Just checked my voter registration info at elections.on.ca -- I'm there, so I can vote in this pointless election Feb. 27.
Some questions for your candidates: What's happening with #Metrolinx? How did a half million dollar roof repair cause the #OntarioScienceCentre to be closed down? Who thought spending a billion dollars putting a spa at #OntarioPlace was a good idea?
Fiscal responsibility? Ridiculous.
Ontario Line construction site mismanagement led this week to someone being run over in a crosswalk just blocks from my home, in a residential area with hundreds of kids.
The truck wasn’t following the official route, and this petition from the Pape Village Safety Action Council is pushing for better.

Updated bus route signage beginning to appear around Toronto to prepare for the opening of Line 5, surprisingly early given lack of government communication.
In an interesting wayfinding choice, in this location only the future route number is listed, not the current route still in operation, and the temporary signage notes that the existing route will still service the stop.
A little piece I wrote on the #Eglinton Crosstown West Extension for the #Metrolinx "Discover" section, for all you #transit and #construction aficionados. https://www.metrolinx.com/en/discover/elevating-transit-a-guideway-across-the-humber
Premier Doug Ford has directed Metrolinx to study expanding GO Transit service along the Kitchener and Milton lines by diverting freight rails.
