I wonder if all these #radiocommercials I'm hearing for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) are related to #SARScov2. I seem to recall #pancreas damage being one of the particularly pesky features of #sequelae (viral persistence), in at least some people.

I remember thinking this was chilling for relying on repurposed HIV drugs for treatment, because they rely on the pancreas to break them down. Like, assuming Long COVID treatment in the US and global West starts getting more attention.

Is anyone else hearing these #EPI commercials too? Clearly I'm obsessed, but it's... suspicious. Tests for EPI were fairly uncommon in lab, relied on examining a piece of poo for diagnosis. The positives always looked really freakish.

Our results demonstrated that exposure of digestive system to H5N1 influenza viruses could initiate infection either through the #tonsil, with spread to respiratory tissues, or through #intestinal infection, with spread to the liver and #pancreas.

Ilmeisesti meistä jokaisen haimassa on lukuisia syöpää aiheuttavan mutaation sisältäviä soluja, osoittavat amerikkalaistutkijat alan eliittiin kuuluvan @Nature toukokuun numerossa.

Keskeinen kysymys: jos kaikilla on syövän ituja haimassa, miksi vain pieni osa sairastuu useimmiten muutamassa vuodessa kuoleman aiheuttavaan haimasyöpään. Vastaus kysymykseen tullee olemaan monella tavalla merkittävä.

I had a spare #CGM #sensor, so with my SO we now get to see the power of non-#diabetic #pancreas in action. And holy fuck, 100g of sweet bun, so I'd say 50g of carbs, +5 from milk in coffee and +5 from a biscuit, and half an hour after that they peaked at 125 mg/dL, and after another half an hour were barely above 100.
Meanwhile me after about 70g and a bunch of insulin and a bit of exercising and I failed to not go above 200 about 2h after.
