Edward Norris Kirk, Presbyterian missionary, says we must love as the Good Samaritan (Luke 10) did. Be like Christ, seek the happiness of those whose character you hate. If that’s too much to ask, why would God allow you in heaven?

I often see the “without holiness” (Heb 12:14) applied to purity, but Kirk applies to love of enemy.

Today we’re asked to acquiese to cruetly cuz victim might be an enemy.

How can you seek others’ happiness?

It's so odd.

If you truly believe that God loves you, everything in the Scriptures confirms it; you can't be convinced otherwise, and you'll love others.

But if you don't believe it, everything in the Scripture will seem like condemnation & slavery, either for you... or by you.
