Signaling Design d.repec.org/n?u=RePEc:arx:pape
"… in the unique equilibrium in our setting, a profit-seeking monopolist school offers an uninformative #signaling technology, generating the same signal regardless of effort, and capture all the surplus in terms of fees. In this case, the separating equilibrium envisaged in #Spence (1973) vanishes, and no wasteful effort is exerted! Competition among schools affects both the total surplus produced and its distribution: competition in fees allows students to retain a higher share of the total surplus … competition to attract high types induces schools to offer more informative monitoring policies, incentivizing higher levels of wasteful effort.

… one equilibrium outcome stands out for its robustness: full separation, yielding the Riley outcome—low-type students exert no effort and high-type students exert the lowest effort that low-types are unwilling to emulate. Thus, compared to the #monopoly case, #competition shifts surplus from the school to high-type students and entails efficiency losses due to socially wasteful effort in equilibrium. The critical driver of this result is the high-type students’ willingness to pay to access a monitoring policy that enables them to better distinguish themselves from low-type students and thus obtain higher #wages."

My opinion about Djed is he's decent player and I am still struggling to understand brain who didn't put him on list for Europa League! It looks like he improved attitude and work on training. One year longer contract is not big deal. I guess he's got salary rise. Who knows what's happening behind the scenes in this club ? Maybe Mitoma really sent Porro home ? Maybe Birmančević made him look so good that Real Madrid decided to get him ? #Spence #thfc #coys #spurs

FrontiersMeta-analysis: On average, undergraduate students' intelligence is merely averageBackground. According to a widespread belief, the average IQ of university students is 115 to 130 IQ points, that is, substantially higher than the average IQ of the general population (M = 100, SD =15). We traced the origin of this belief to obsolete intelligence data collected in 1940s and 1950s when university education was the privilege of a few. Examination of more recent IQ data indicate that IQ of university students and university graduates dropped to the average of the general population. The decline in students' IQ is a necessary consequence of increasing educational attainment over the last 80 years. Today, graduating from university is more common than completing high school in the 1940s. Method. We conducted a meta-analysis of the mean IQ scores of college and university students samples tested with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale between 1939 and 2022. Results. The results show that the average IQ of undergraduate students today is a mere 102 IQ points and declined by approximately 0.2 IQ points per year. The students' IQ also varies substantially across universities and is correlated with the selectivity of universities (measured by average SAT scores of admitted students). Discussion. These findings have wide-ranging implications. First, universities and professors need to realize that students are no longer extraordinary but merely average, and have to adjust curricula and academic standards. Second, employers can no longer rely on applicants with univer...
