This is a subject super near and dear to me. I now basically work on #asics and to a much lesser degree #fpgas but in the time around when the M1 came out was a string of R&D programs I started on that got cancelled in succession for "limited business viability" reasons.

It's made for a very long week after finding ball failures on these bga #asic packages only after day 11 of accelerated thermal testing.

I suppose an #introduction update is in order, so here goes. The first computer I ever programmed for (and crashed) was a Convex C240 while spending weekday afternoons as a child mostly unsupervised in the cs department at a public university. I know enough #fortran to be dangerous, enough #python to survive, but make a living working on physical stuff (mostly #ASICs in the recent past but with a much bigger project on my hands right now).
