London's bus network expanded for #disabled passengers with eleven new routes in #Croydon and surrounding areas, featuring wheelchair-accessible buses, improved facilities, and interchanges.
On 15 March 2025, #Arriva Rail #London (ARL) launched a special service from West #Croydon to London Bridge to assist passengers during essential engineering works. This service ran every 30 minutes, stopping at all stations along the Windrush line to New Cross Gate, then continuing to London Bridge instead of the usual route to Highbury & Islington.
ARL staff were stationed at London Bridge to support passengers, alongside colleagues from Govia #Thameslink #Railway (GTR), who assisted with train dispatch. GTR driver instructors also accompanied ARL drivers in the cab for guidance on the route, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Gunnar Lindahl, ARL's operations director, expressed satisfaction with the service, highlighting its role in providing a seamless travel experience during a typically challenging day. He noted the commitment to reliable travel options and the potential for similar initiatives in the future to enhance passenger convenience.

Since then their political trajectories have diverged - with the latter - #croydon - having become something of an embarrassment to #Laɓour in recent years and having both faced the equivalent of bankruptcy and elected albeit narrowly a #conservative executive #mayor in 2022.
