The glimpses into an Iranian family that tries so hard to live under their patriarch felt very real. After the gun goes missing it drifts into a fable like story and honestly it lost me there. But regarding the circumstances under which it was filmed and produced I just had to give this many stars!!

I really wish I’d seen a recap of the 4th one before watching this because for most of the first 15 minutes I had no idea who she was or what was going on (I didn’t recognise the actor or the one who plays her boyfriend). I know that this is where the sequels start to go in a different direction (i.e. not scary, just daft) but even so… As a rider I thought the motorcycle scene was pretty cool and definitely something you’d find on a 1980s metal album cover. Basically the boundary
Sorry Dune fans but I think this is extremely overrated.

letterboxd.comA ★★★★ review of Dune: Part Two (2024)I didn’t write a review of Part One (it was before I joined Letterboxd) though I seem to have given it three stars from memory. I’m not sure why but I imagine it was because I wanted more Zendaya. I probably should revisit it as maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. This one? I found it to be way too simplistic in its framing, too much like, “ooh, exotic Middle Eastern peoples” (yes, I know that’s in the books) and in that sense even though the effects and scenery really are spectacular, it felt kind of dated to me.

I may be in the minority here, but I would rather you post your movie review HERE on #Mastodon, instead of just a link to your #letterboxed account. At the very least leave the link at the bottom and say a few things about the movie here. It just feels like too many people are using this site to promote other social media sites and that takes away from the legitimacy of Mastodon as a social media experience. Just my take.
