At this point in the season my eyes are starved for color. Forsythia is really popping now, and magnolia trees are starting to open around town. (crossing my fingers we don’t get a late, killing frost)
I know it’s called a “crocus,” but I listened very closely and I didn’t hear a thing.
Another sign of spring in southeast Michigan today:
Forsythia in bloom.
My daffodils have about 2 inches of leaves showing above the ground, leaves that only sprouted in the past few days.
My neighbor has flowering daffodils. Their daffodils are always first to bloom in our neighborhood.
I suspect because they're early blooming daffodils, have direct afternoon sun, and are next to a brick wall in full sun.
Whoahh.. ALL the cuckoos* started up this evening
(*4 different ones singing on a 3km walk)
Cherry blossom too! They've already blooming at lower altitudes, but we spotted the first flowers opening here.
More signs of spring I discovered this morning in southeast Michigan:
Astilbe and Blue Wood Aster (Symphyotrichum cordifolium)
have sprouted.
Phil and the kids (Jonas and Mercy) enjoying the first crocus of the season!
