@mu This is one kind of reuse center that I found on the web. It's something a local library could sponsor. Also, there are places that do that with building materials (#HabitatForHumanity #ReStores).

#CreativeReuse Centers Benefit #Communities & the #Planet

"What Is a #CreativeReuseCenter?

"A creative reuse center is a #CraftThriftStore and so much more. It’s a business or nonprofit organization that collects #usable materials, leftovers, or surplus creative supplies and redistributes them to the community for reuse. These organizations accept donations from individuals as well as manufacturers, industry partners, and businesses. Donations can be in the form of leftover craft supplies such as your craft stash. They may also include cabinet or flooring samples from a home renovation company or the end of a roll of vinyl from a sign manufacturer.

"Each center makes decisions differently and has different donors and #donations rules, but the ethos is consistent: They help people see the potential in useable waste as art. The creative possibilities of cast-off materials are limited only by the imagination of the artist. Creative reuse is all about #upcycling and #repurposing: elevating and #reusing an unwanted material or item into something entirely new with purposeful value."

The #options within the #Fediverse if you #post something:

a) They #block and/or #report you because they just #hate the #truth.

b) They completely #ignore you.

c) They #conspire against you in #secret.

d) They #reply, even though they have not even remotely understood what you were saying (reasons for this may differ).

e) They immediately start #insulting you or try to #deflect from the #topic in another way.

f) They give your post a #star, possibly even #boost it.

g) They (at least try to) engage in a serious conversation with you.

h) They just tell you something #nice and even become new #followers.

Now please don't ask me about the corresponding #probabilities or bad things might happen.

Alright, we're good. I think?!

P.S.: I hate to admit it but #Twitter (and even #X) are still way more #useful (and #usable in general) than any other "comparable #platform". However, that's no reason for me to feed #Elon's monster. Don't you worry 'bout that.

To keep an #interface #uncluttered and #usable, the Isaacs-Walendowski frequency-commonality grid suggests when to surface or bury functions.

IF A FUNCTION IS USED…

OFTEN × MANY: make it visible.
• Red wavy line shows a spelling error.

OFTEN × FEW: make it suggested, 1 click deep.
• Replace misspelled with a correct word.

SELDOM × MANY: suggest it deeper, in context.
• Add to custom dictionary.

SELDOM × FEW: hide it.
• Remove word from custom dictionary.

Then test the #design.

Web #UI screenshot from #mastodon shows Unfollow and Follow buttons that use the branding color of blue for background, with white letters.

These buttons would be more #usable if they were different colors, or if one were white background with blue lettering. People don’t always read button text, they use cues like position and color to reduce the mental work of using visual UIs.

Hey, #headhunters and #recruiters: if you want me submit my #resume so you can match my profile to that of a job opening, make sure that your resume-submission website is #UserFriendly. We are YOUR wage. YOU have the power to DEMAND a #usable website, so YOU get to GAIN MORE KICKBACKS.

If your resume website sucks, don't expect me to submit my resume. Instead, why not HIRE ME to help YOU improve that website? Remote access preferred. I'm expensive.
