A proposito di tutto questo nuovo casino con ChatGPT, ma allo stesso tempo parlando di altro perché davvero non ce la faccio più… Agli art-bro che vorrebbero un cambiamento in positivo nel mondo per quanto concerne le intelligenze artificiali generative, io consiglierei, piuttosto che sterilmente attaccare quelle persone private che scelgono di essere utenti finali della tecnologia, di tenere viva la memoria di un particolare avvenimento (ed eventuali altri affini che spero non capitino, ma mai dire mai)… 
Ricordate quando, a fine novembre 2024, #OpenAI ha suicidato un ex-dipendente? Probabilmente no, perché in quel periodo (la notizia iniziò a girare qualche settimana dopo), a differenza di quando lo stesso tipo di merda accadde per mano di Boeing, l’attenzione riguardo gli atti omicidi era purtroppo o per fortuna tutta focalizzata su Luigi Mangione. La notizia è passata così tanto in sordina che, per quanto io la sapessi da tempo, non riesco a ricordare neanche se l’ho saputa subito o più tardi. 
In breve, questo signore di nome Suchir Balaji ha lavorato come ricercatore ad OpenAI per un po’ (qualche anno?), per poi licenziarsi per motivi etici, perché non voleva più contribuire a tecnologie che riteneva fossero più dannose che benefiche. Poi ha iniziato a parlare pubblicamente dei lati oscuri scoperti lavorando lì, diventando quindi un #whistleblower, e avrebbe dovuto a breve testimoniare nella causa di copyright del New York Times contro la compagnia in quanto possessore di “documenti unici e rilevanti”. E quindi, logicamente è stato trovato morto in casa prima che potesse andare a testimoniare. 
Attualmente, la causa di morte legalmente riconosciuta è per l’appunto #suicidio, ma puntualmente, come in tutti questi casi, ci sono cose che non quadrano… non ha lasciato note, non mostrava segni di voler fare niente del genere, e soprattutto nessuno ha rivelato quale sarebbe stato il metodo di questo fantomatico suicidio, qualcosa che si dovrebbe venire a sapere dall’autopsia. La madre dice anche che, dopo la sua morte, sono spariti dei documenti in suo possesso che avrebbero potuto contribuire a provare le magagne di OpenAI, e che il giorno prima della #morte aveva anche festeggiato felicemente il compleanno. 
Poi oh, certamente, tutto può essere… magari da un giorno all’altro gli sono venuti i sensi di colpa per aver anche solo lavorato ad una compagnia come OpenAI, che ha poi scoperto come estremamente immorale una volta dentro, e allora non ce l’ha fatta più… quant’è la probabilità, 0.1%? Per quanto questo mi metterà nella stessa barca di complottisti del calibro di Musk, io dico che è omicidio, e spero francamente che vengano fatte delle indagini per bene, al posto di queste autopsie sommarie che il poveraccio ha subito… ma se si spende il tempo a partecipare alle guerre tra poveri sull’uso dell’IA, anziché spargere la voce su queste cose, la speranza possiamo sotterrarla per bene.

Since there are many #protests against #trump, #musk, #republicans, and ultimately #fascism, it’s important y’all know something about printers and photocopiers. Many add special watermarks to the paper that identifies the specific device that was used to print the document. Security experts and journalists are fairly certain these were used to identify #whistleblower Reality Winner and ultimately convict her.
Given many people print out pamphlets, posters, etc. it’s important to know that they may inadvertently be leaving a digital fingerprint.

There is also a GitHub project with code that obfuscates those dots, making them unreadable by authorities: https://github.com/dfd-tud/deda.
Right now the legality of protest is codified in the constitution. However, Trump has already flaunted numerous other laws to go after people he perceives as his enemy, so be safe out there. If you are printing protest literature, make certain it can’t be tracked back to you.
In these uncertain times, it’s crucial to recognize the role of whistleblowers in exposing the truth. From Theranos to Facebook, Uber, Google and OpenAI, their courage has uncovered critical issues within the tech industry.
Whistleblowers will remain essential in holding Big Tech and governments accountable and protecting them is more important than ever.
