We bailed on the full route & rode back on the shoulder of a highway - I will never do that again, no matter how bad the situation. If the situation is bad enough to ride that road, then it’s dire enough to call for a someone to come pick me up

The County and City of Los Angeles and partners have launched the new LA Region Worker Relief Fund that helps workers impacted financially by the windstorm and wildfires by providing cash assistance grants of $2,000.

Applications open February 6, 2025 at 8am through the newly extended
deadline of March 2, 2025 at 5pm.

People of #Ireland, beware. Weather models are really bullish on the #windstorm that's arriving from the Atlantic on friday. These are insane gust speeds, and the #storm is quickly followed by a second one. That one is not as strong, but can worsen the damage of the first substantially. Pay attention!

How dirty did the air get during the #Wildfires and #WindStorm?

Here is a filter (originally white) from my CPAP machine that is less than 2 weeks old and that I changed this week.

It usually gets quite dirty (LA is unbelievably dusty), but this is definitely a record especially for one that was used less than 2 weeks and during much of which windows were always closed!

This has been a very stressful day, with the #windstorm & now the #wildfire.

Because the noise in the house made it seem so scary, I decided to work in the garden this afternoon to get more at ease with the wind and I was doing quite well until my neighbor called me to tell me a wildfire had broken out only 2 miles from where we live: the Eaton fire.

Despite lots of smoke and strong winds, the fire appears to be moving away from us at this time. A number of Pasadena & Altadena neighborhoods have been evacuated but we’re still ok here and hope that doesn’t change. Sadly some houses were destroyed.

This is the most violent storm here in more than 13 years when a very destructive storm caused extensive damage in Pasadena, Dec 1, 2011.

Here is a video from earlier this evening when the fire was visible from our house. Parts of our street only 4 blocks east of here, is still under an evacuation warning.
