I'm happy to announce the *Libreboot T480*:
https://minifree.org/product/libreboot-t480/
ThinkPad T480 *with Libreboot pre-installed*, to replace proprietary BIOS/UEFI firmware. Your choice of Debian Linux, other distro or BSD.
Libreboot offers greater security and faster boot speeds than Lenovo firmware. T480 is 8th gen (Kabylake Refresh), replacing Libreboot T440p, which was 4th gen (Haswell).
I'm Libreboot's founder / lead dev. Sales fund Libreboot.
LIbreboot 3050 Micro also launched: https://minifree.org/product/libreboot-3050-micro/
@libreleah What happened to the other choices like the P and the 768p laptop?
@Reshirams_Rad_Slam 768p?
I discontinued the older machines, replacing them with Libreboot T480 and Libreboot 3050 Micro.
@libreleah The one with the 1366x768 screen I forgot the name of.
Also when they ask you to install Arch Linux, how much of it do you install?
@Reshirams_Rad_Slam I normally just run archinstall and pick a desktop e.g. KDE. Easier. It automates most of the arch setup. I might do a bit of tinkering after the fact.
I'm happy to install Arch Linux for you, if you wish. Please note that while I *can* provide a 1366x768 screen, the T480/T480s that I sell both come with 1920x1080 screens by default!
I think the 1366x768 machine you refer to is probably the ThinkPad X230. That got canned. I only sell T480/T480s now. It's a better machine.
@libreleah so they're just gone gone forever?
@Reshirams_Rad_Slam I can still do them on request, but yeah it's much harder to find them in bulk nowadays, that's why I upgraded all my products to much newer machines, which are more readily available.
@libreleah It's fine. I'll wait my budget.
@libreleah Just for curiosity sake, what are the gone models again?
