Why is #Meta pushing so hard for any instances #Threads can connect with (via #ActivityPub) to also make posts available as a "public feed"?

It's not like there's a "public feed" of anything on #Facebook or #Instagram, or even Threads. All you get if you go there is an obnoxious login challenge.
@tokyo_0@mas.to well he says they need it for server review... so that sounds like they just want an easy way to check the local timeline, this doesn't immediately strike me as an unreasonable ask for deciding on whether to federate with an instance. You're right though that if they want those to be the rules they should offer such a thing on Threads too...
@vetehinen They can check the local timeline via ActivityPub, though. The posts don't need to be made more public than them being visible to the Threads instance.
