This is what a non-democratic country look like:

The Venezuelan state didn't even hide their contempt; protests broke out as Maduro remains in office, while it has emerged that Maduro's opposition won the elections, which was swiftly countered by a brutal crackdown that the state named "Operación Tun Tun" (Operation Knock Knock).

Coup d'État or "coup" is french, meaning "blow of state", but in German, the word "putsch" is used, meaning "knock". <-- Operation Coup Coup.

The Guardian · Venezuela opposition leader Edmundo González vows to ‘continue the fight’ from SpainBy Tom Phillips

@libreleah as far as I'm aware there hasn't been any actual evidence the election was stolen other than the losers unsubstantiated claims, this is the exact same tactic Trump and Bolsonaro used and that the rest of the far right is resorting to, every time they lose an election.

Leah Rowe is not a Rowebot

@heyoka the actual counted results were leaked in several places all over venezuala and say the opposition get about two thirds of the vote

@libreleah where they though? or did the losing side just claim they where leaked? Because, again, without any actual material evidence, that's not that different from the recurring well established pattern of far right claims and it reflects a core tenet of fascism, why would you believe them uncritically?
the closest to a trustworthy source for similar claims is the carter center but even they don't claim to have any evidence the actual results where tampered.

@heyoka to be clear, *trump* lost his re-election bid in 2020. nobody has any doubts about that, at least not anyone sane.

i was only talking about nicholas maduro, current head of state in the country of venezuela. several reputable news sources have said he lost 2-1, based on brave leaks by activists within that country, for example:

i will state again: i'm talking about *venezuela*, not the united states.

maduro proclaimed 52% of the vote, but the data says he lost

The Guardian · Evidence shows Venezuela’s election was stolen – but will Maduro budge?By Tiago Rogero
supporters of one side believe a certain set of evidence and dismiss evidence and claims from the other side
and vice versa
this is evidence of a dispute, not of either side's victory
unless you happen to believe either side's propaganda
unfortunately, western highly centralized media gives many people the false notion of so-called reputable news sources being trustworthy in matters of war and national interests. their one-sidedness on such matters screams of war propaganda
gotta get even more critical and seek additional sources that bring in different narratives. the only known way of standing a chance of distilling truth is by confronting conflicting reports. that is hard to do when narratives are so centralized and uniform, but overcoming it may be a challenge when one only speaks English

@libreleah I'm quite aware trump lost, that's my point. why do you consider these news sources reputable? and "brave leaks"? these kind of claims have been repeatedly weaponized by the far right and reported as fact by these"reputable" news sources whenever they target designated foreign adversaries of the state, it's not even pattern recognition at this point, just basic object permanence.
