I have been doing some emissions calculations at work lately, and from the stats I found, I can conclude that the #XR headsets #Meta #RealityLabs manufactured in 2019-2023 (i.e. mostly #MetaQuest2 & #MetaQuest3, which is like ⅔ of the whole XR market thanks to extreme monopolization) generated ca 160 kg CO₂e of greenhouse gas emissions per headset. Official publication with details is in the works, just wanted to share this in case anyone needs a number right now for some rough GHG estimations.

I want to sell my Quest 3 & would prefer to surrender (for $$$) my Meta Horizon account (a ton of games & apps).

My Meta accounts were all connected (FB, IG) with my Horizon account. I’m in the process of disconnecting them.

Is there a way to COMPLETELY DIVORCE my Horizon account from all my other Meta stuff, and just surrender my Horizon account so I can sell it in a package deal with my Quest 3?

So I spent £200 to buy Meta Quest 2 specifically to play Assetto Corsa and after hours of getting it setup to work, courtesy of virtual desktop, even on low settings it makes my fan (not sure if CPU or GPU go wild, the screen goes black and I have to shut the PC down.

I don't even want to try again in case I damage some hardware and I because I bought it from Curry's I know it'll be an uphill struggle to get my money back.

My Ray-Ban Optics glasses are just slightly too big for my #MetaQuest2, so while they fit they always get caught in the facial interface which makes taking it off super awkward and you also get the issues of glare and stuff with an air gap between the lenses of the headset and the glasses sometimes.

The getting caught thing is even more of an issue as I upgraded the strap to the #KiwiDesigns one that lets you flip the headset up.

So I have another upgrade coming today: prescription lenses!

I'm considering switching to, but not being able to use Steam VR and play PCVR games through Steam Link would be a major cons.

I’m still exploring my #MetaQuest2 and I just found out it has hand tracking, meaning you can choose to just manipulate virtual objects and press buttons etc with your hands, rather than the tracked controllers. I haven’t kept up on every feature and update that’s come out over the years, had no idea it was able to do that. Just tried it out and it works shockingly well, I will absolutely be using it for some of my more casual media consumption activities and stuff. Super neat #VR #Quest2

I got a #MetaQuest2 for Christmas. I’ve only dabbled with it so far as I’m with family so don’t want to spend much time isolated like that. But I had a quick look at Prime Video #VR just now and I’m very impressed. The sense of being in your own private big screen cinema is neat and there’s cool touches like the lights going out when the controls fade away.

And yes, I did use The Eras Tour Extended Trailer for the demo because OF COURSE I’m thinking about watching that in my own private cinema.
