Random Host 🐕

If anyone else is experiencing seemingly random unexplained "critical error" crashes in #SteamVR on #Windows with error codes like "0xc0000409" involving "vrserver.exe" in the Windows "Application" event logs:

Check the "System" event log for "Kernel-General" events around the same time (about a second) the crash happened.

In my case, Windows did a time sync with "time.windows.com" and adjusted the system time forwards. Both #Steam VR crashes I experienced the last couple of days correlated with one of these time sync events.

This doesn't look like a coincidence.

I don't know what to do about it yet other than turning time sync off in Windows 11, if that's even possible.

But maybe we can somehow get the word out there so #Valve and #Microsoft can maybe take a look at it?

I'd prefer my #VRChat sessions to not be interrupted by a poorly implemented time sync.

I don't get the strategy behind this. Microsoft doesn't really know what they are doing, it seems. They are now more relying on #streaming with #gamepassultimate and it is rumored that there might be a mobile XBox platform. If so, I don't get it. Why aren't they simply use the #valve #steamdeck and offer an official application for playing Game Pass Games that natively work on Steamdeck or can be streamed? Everybody would love that. Why new hardware? (2/3)

My recent experiences with my beloved #valve #steamdeck:

SOUL CALIBOUR VI runs fantastic on the device in 1080p. I have a lot of fun with that game and somehow I would like to see the original arcade version on Steamdeck. Or the #sega #dreamcast version. That would be fun.

DIABLO IV is a blast on Steamdeck and runs great in 1080p. I had so much fun playing yesterday. (1/3)

Das SteamFork Projekt wurde ja leider eingestampft, mit Hinweis man solle doch das richtige SteamOS verwenden.

Soweit so gut. Installiere ich nun SteamOS über das Recovery Image, findet er aber auf der Platte noch Reste von SteamFork und benutzt deren nicht mehr erreichbaren Update-Server … mit dem dann die Installation nicht klappt 🙈

...one of my most fav #games is #arksurvival (cos like, running free crafting shit and playing with dinos!!!! radical!)...but my little hobo leg burner cant handle even the lowest of low settings for that one so i sub with #banished, which is really how i feel, and store my installed games on #playnite to subvert the "you will never really own this game" bs of the game usage licensure leasing #valve jerks of #steam...

After Valve announced in January that a public beta of Steam Deck's SteamOS is coming for more handhelds, the initial SteamOS 3.7 Preview added the start of it and now the latest SteamOS 3.7.3 Preview brings more improvements for other handhelds.
