Somehow I think the most useful skill I learnt while working with #metadata in #libraries is #regex.
I use it all the time for searching and replacing of text.
This is how one printer sent us an update for some binders that need filing. I already took out a pile of a few hundred pages from the left stack, but I also need access to those pink sheets on the bottom right. Can’t those be interfiled?!

Turns out a whole news feed layout page was coded for the previous internal comms team, and the items were published on the home page on our internal handbook. I finally removed it today, and replaced it with a Table of Contents to match our public one.
The latest news item was from January 2023.
I’m sure the #InformationManagement professionals who follow me can appreciate how satisfying that was.

Im at a tech conference this weekend, everyone's dressed in casual attire so I wore my Lib Tech (snowboard brand) t-shirt. Which got a few tech people excited enough to ask me what new technology is this? Lmao if you could've seen the reactions when I told them about Gnu! 
I just spent an hour trying to figure out why something went haywire at work. Turns out someone used a “chatGPT-written python script” and ran it against our live digital library files.
As you can imagine, hilarity ensued

Although technology is largely neutral and the ethics of technology are based on human choices, some technologies are more conducive to promoting freedom than others. I refer to such technologies broadly as liberative technology (#libtech). Decentralized and federated services like the #fediverse are one form of libtech, as is truly decentralized #cryptocurrency like #cardano.
