Unfortunatly due to Russias naked Imperialism and desire to wipe Ukraine off the map do the thousands of young men and women continue to die. I assume that your equation between the Russian and Ukrainian dead is due to a general pity for all the dead. I myself have little sympathy for the Russian volunteers who, out of a desire for money, loot or support of Imperialist #policies join in that genocidal war.
In the dangerous world created by Putin and his sympthazisers it is sensible and neccessary for the imperfect but worthwhile #European countries to shore up their defenses. The #UK effort to make the most of it and also give the poor a shot at a better life is laudable. The notion that Starmer is purposefully impoverishing thousands to serve as cannon-fodder after a generation of defense cuts requires some serious evidence.
Deterence requires the means and the will to defend oneself.
One side – let’s call them the #pragmatists – view #politics purely in terms of #policies enacted and material change on the ground. The other – let’s call them the #idealists – see a role for demonstrating their principles and modelling them in public. It is a debate that has simmered for centuries, and yet seems to catch each new #politicalgeneration unawares."
